Psychological therapy for adolescents

What is involved

Psychological therapy with adolescents typically involves more traditional talk therapy though games may be used to help break the ice and get to know each other. We can explore the reasons for engaging in counselling and together we can work out how to tackle the issues you are facing.

We can talk about

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Cyber bullying

  • Mindfulness

  • Relaxation/meditation

  • Self-esteem/confidence building

  • Gender and sexual identity

How it will work

This will depend on the age of the adolescent, however, it is helpful to meet with parents to gain a thorough understanding of the situation and the adolescent’s developmental history. Confidentiality is essential to a trusting therapeutic relationship and this will be explained and discussed at the start of treatment. Parental involvement will be based on the adolescent’s individual situation.
